Your wedding, told against the Matterhorn
A look at how I photograph weddings here — the ceremony, your guests, and the walk up to Riffelsee afterward — plus everything you need to book a session.
I am a local photographer based in Zermatt. I do not direct the day — I follow it. My approach is documentary first: the toasts, the walk between venues, the moment your parents see you dressed for the first time. The posed portraits happen too, usually up at Riffelsee or Rotenboden, where the Matterhorn sits behind you in the water. Everything below is from real weddings I have shot here.
The mountain, honestly
Zermatt weddings usually involve a mountain session, and I want to be upfront about how that works. The Matterhorn is visible more mornings than not, but not every morning — cloud can sit on the peak for a day or two at a time, especially in shoulder season. I check the forecast with you a few days out and we agree the best window together, whether that is early the next morning or later in your stay. If the peak stays hidden, the walk to Riffelsee is still worth it for the light and the reflection in the lake itself. I would rather tell you this now than promise a view I cannot guarantee.

Riffelsee and the walk up
Many couples add a second, quieter session the morning after the wedding, once the day itself has settled down. We take the Gornergrat train to Rotenboden, then walk about fifteen minutes to Riffelsee. On a still morning the lake mirrors the Matterhorn almost perfectly — it is the shot most couples ask for by name. I plan the train time around the light and around how tired everyone actually is; there is no reason to rush a 6am train after a wedding.
Every wedding session is quoted individually, based on your day, your guest count and how much time in the mountains you would like — so we agree the full plan, including the deposit amount below, together first.
